Reporting to the Department Head for Experiential Learning & Undergraduate Success the Undergraduate Success Librarian provides extraordinary customer experiences and professional skills for developing and delivering experiential learning opportunities that positively impacts the academic and professional success and retention of our first time in college undergraduate students.
Uses experiential learning as the pedagogical foundation to provide student-centered instruction and programming. Collaborates with faculty and student success staff from UTA's First Year Writing Program, First Year Experience Program, the Division for Student Success, and other student success programs from across campus to develop curriculum and programming. Extends services through office hours, embedded librarianship, and social media. Supervises peer educators and develops pedagogical approaches that utilize the peer educators to increase the capacity for and effectiveness of instruction. Develops and maintains online teaching materials and guides and participates in digital learning initiatives. Develops and maintains a working, interactive, and dynamic relationship with faculty, students, and staff in assigned disciplines and student success offices. Performs other duties assigned.
Master's degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program or a related graduate degree. Computer literate and technologically adept. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.
Experience in developing experiential learning, active learning, and information literacy curricula. Experience engaging both first time in college and K12 student populations. Supervisory experience. Knowledge of experiential learning theory and practice, various teaching methodologies, and research related to pedagogy and learning. Experience with current and emerging technologies and their application in academic libraries, including creative technologies and digital technologies.
