The Associate University Registrar for External Credit and Degree Conferral reports to the Associate Vice President & University Registrar and will serve as a member of the senior management team of the Registrar's Office. This position is the inaugural Associate Register in a newly developed unit that focuses on all matters related to external credit evaluations and credit transfer, advanced placement, degree mapping and degree audit, and degree conferral. The Associate University Registrar will work closely with the AVP & University Registrar and well as partners in Strategic Enrollment Management, Student Success, Provost Office, and the academic units to develop new processes and policies that leverage the expertise of the new central unit. The Associate University Registrar will lead the University community to improve related student services, develop student-centric approaches to processes, ensure consistency of policy enforcement, and maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations.
As part of the leadership team, this position will assist the AVP & University Registrar with strategic planning in line with the strategic plan and vision of Enrollment & Success and The New School. In addition, the incumbent will manage a five person team; serve as the liaison with IT for technical and reporting solutions related to the unit; and represent the office on various committees.
This position requires excellent organizational, planning and project management skills, as well as versatility, flexibility, and problem-solving ability. It requires a combination of regulatory knowledge, understanding of business needs and the underlying systems that support them. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, data-driven and creative environment. The Associate Registrar will possess the interpersonal skills necessary to successfully liaise, negotiate, and collaborate with colleagues across all levels of the university and external partners while maintaining composure, discretion, and a student-centered focus.
●Lead for leading the centralization efforts related to development of the external credit and degree conferral. ●Partner with Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success to ensure all processes are student centric and effectively communicated. ●Manage a team of five professionals and general operations, while ensuring all external credit and degree related matters are processed and resolved timely, accurately. ●Coordinate with the Provost Office and colleges to update new courses and curriculum changes in degree audit. ●Maintain a relevant knowledge in the field, such as international credential evaluation, accreditation requirements, compliance reporting, and related federal regulations. ●Collaborate with the key university constituents to develop, implement, and maintain new technology and approaches to enhance student services, increase transparency, improve efficiency, and ensure accuracy. ●Participate on a variety of university committees, such as the Academic Policy Group and the University Curriculum Committee.
●Master's Degree ●Six years of progressively responsible full-time work experience in higher education ●Four years Registrar's Office experience, or equivalent, with specific focus in external credit and degree evaluation ●Demonstrated ability to lead diverse constituents through a major change ●Must possess the ability to creatively problem solve; maintain curiosity; and demonstrate empathy ●Two years of supervisory experience managing professional and support staff
●Experience with Banner, Hyperion, Tableau, DegreeWorks, Perceptive ●Experience managing units within a Registrar's Office
