Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager (Clinical Departments) for the Dean’s Office at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Ambulatory Care Services, this position leads and oversees multiple process reengineering projects utilizing principles from Lean and Six Sigma. The Project Manager is responsible for data collection, analysis and presentation. This position is responsible for projects from original concept through final implementation. This position maintains data repositories and provides periodic updates on key performance indicators. This candidate interfaces and follows a developed communication plan with all areas affected by the project including leadership, task force committees and stakeholders. The Project Manager ensures adherence to the Practice Operations, regulatory, and compliance policies. In addition to the Executive Director, this position works closely with the Senior Associate Dean, Clinical Affairs and the Director of Quality, Safety and Patient Experience.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for supporting ambulatory process management by facilitating and leading improvement projects.
Serves as the project manager by performing data collection, record keeping, scheduling for meetings and updates, following up on action plan items and preparing or overseeing presentations.
Ensures a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Project Plan, in order to align the Task Force Members and Stakeholders. Ensures implementation of the approved actions.
Records task force progress including stakeholder requirements, constraints, and assumptions in order to establish the project and produce a project charter following a prescribed methodology and communication plan.
Measures project performance in order to monitor the progress of the project, identifies and quantifies any variances, performs any required corrective actions.
Develops tools for monitoring and continued success, which may include dashboards, electronic forms, etc. Identifies and reports trends.
Endorses change, sponsors change initiatives, and searches for other organizations' best practices to adopt or modify change.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related discipline.
Three (3) to five (5) years of operational project management experience.
Team leader/facilitator experience.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Certified in Lean/Six Sigma.
Strong analytical skills; financial and operational acumen.
Effective oral and written communications skills including preparation of materials and presentations in front of large groups.
Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
