The dental assistant will assist general dentists and specialty dentists chair side. The individual will greet and escort patients. Individual will take radiographs as instructed by the provider. The individual will set up and break down operatories and clean operatory areas after each patient. In addition, the individual will be responsible for sterilization and maintaining equipment and materials in accordance with OSHA, federal and state guidelines. The individual will also be responsible for stocking all materials needed in the clinic on a daily basis. In addition, the dental assistant will support the front desk operations. The individual will be able to schedule appointments, check in patients, collect and verify patient demographics, retrieve charts, document treatments plans and other tasks in support of office administration.
Assist faculty/residents in four-handed dentistry
Assisting chair side with clinic procedures.
Provide excellent chair side care to all practice patients.
Set up and break down of dental operatories using proper infection control procedures.
Take digital radiographs (panoramic, PAs, bitewings)
Working in dental laboratory pouring models, polishing crowns and dentures, taking impressions and making temporary crowns.
Stocking and organizing dental operatories and assuring appropriate supply standardization...
Maintaining cleanliness of operatories and instruments in compliance with Infection Control policies.
Assisting in equipment control and maintaining dental cassettes and hand pieces.
Work collaboratively with other dental assistants to manage the appointment schedule and assigned cases.
Schedule and confirm all patient appointments.
Collect and verify patient demographic information.
Verify insurance eligibility and coordinate prior approval process.
Access and maintain patient electronic health records, including scanning in supplemental documents.
Retrieve and file paper charts and x-rays, when necessary.
Enter treatment charges into the patient care system.
Answer all patient, provider, and insurance phone calls.
Receive and post point of service patient payment
Vocational/Technical diploma or Associates degree
1-3 years' experience
Radiology certification required
Working knowledge of dental software
Exhibits knowledge and proficiency with sterile technique and assisting various specialties. Sound knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance in regards to infection control, blood borne pathogens, sterilization and radiology
