Support the senior leadership team and various internal and external constituencies by enhancing the Denison brand and using marketing and communications skills to promote the value of the University to key external audiences, including prospective students and their families, current parents, alumni, and donors. Supervise a highly qualified team that has a strong background on a variety of platforms (print, digital, and video), manage budgets, and hire external consultants and freelancers who meet the needs of the office and University.
Supervise a staff of eleven University Communications (UComm) team members who have functional oversight of media relations, social media, digital marketing, Denison.edu, Denison Magazine, photography, video, crisis response, and admission and development publications on behalf of the University.
Lead the collective and focused talents and energies of the UComm team to advance the strategic priorities of the University, and to conceive and carry out integrated messaging projects for the institution, including analyzing strategic story ideas.
Work proactively with the President to position the University in competitive contexts and develop and disseminate through multiple means the President's key messages about the University's strengths, people, and priorities to multiple overlapping constituencies. Partner across traditional boundaries with the President and senior leaders in Enrollment Management, Institutional Advancement, the Provost's Office, and Student Development to define and advance the University's collective strategic communications objectives and strategies, particularly those that are embedded in competitive contexts.
Develop and execute on the vision and direction with the Vice President for Enrollment Management to produce compelling content to target key audiences that drive visibility and articulate the value proposition of a Denison education for prospective students and their families, and to admitted students that Denison seeks to enroll.
Collaborate with all areas of Institutional Advancement to develop and execute communication strategies that help to enhance the experience of Denison alumni, family, and friends through engaging, impactful, and persuasive messaging. Develop and execute integrated communications strategies for the current, post, and future comprehensive fundraising campaign, as well as the Annual Fund.
Articulate innovative and vibrant campus life opportunities that are part of a Denison education (i.e. Red Frame Lab, ReMix, Knowlton Center for Career Exploration, Wellness Initiatives, Residential Communities), working closely with the Division of Student Development.
Write persuasively with the Denison brand to inspire higher education audiences: admission marketing, case-making for fundraising, and alumni engagement across platforms (print, web, social, video scripting) and in op-eds, reviewing, and editing. Evaluate, create, and implement individual strategic communications projects, particularly with written content, and align those projects with the larger goal of further developing Denison's
