Reporting to the Director of the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Marketing and Communications at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Communications & Special Projects Manager will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and communicating key School initiatives to advance the strategic and operational goals of the School. The Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing the School's comprehensive marketing and communications plans.
The Manager works closely with the Director of SPPUA on new strategic initiatives and plans, coordinates with others, and executes new and continuing projects while keeping the Director apprised. The Manager is highly organized and is able to work independently as well as coordinate staff, faculty, and external constituents, to bring new initiatives to fruition with a high level of professionalism.
The Manager handles all external communications for the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and directs a portfolio of activities, including but not limited to:
Generates, processes, and edits online content for the School and affiliated websites
Conceptualizes all printed and video materials
Provides general oversight of the public image of the School and all entities.
The position will also continue to develop and utilize social media to promote all programs, initiatives, research and faculty work within the school. The Manager takes part in developing all plans for outreach, supervises outgoing communications, and works closely with technical, administrative, and Open Classroom support staff to maintain the Policy School brand and vision.
Additionally, this position will work closely with Academic Program Directors, the Director of Marketing and Communications at CSSH and other key marketing staff in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University to implement programs and audience-specific marketing plans and recruiting tactics that lead to interest and demand generation for current and future programs that will be delivered in a variety of formats (including online and blended coursework). These marketing plans will support the University's strategic vision, student enrollment goals, and key program start dates, and will incorporate an integrated mix of appropriate media (such as online/web advertising, search engine marketing, direct mail, radio, social media, web content, and video). The Manager will be responsible for executing, tracking, and reporting on these plans throughout the year. The position assists key stakeholders with ongoing development of new lead generation strategies and marketing approaches to promote the Northeastern brand and build enrollment in designated programs. This position will also develop marketing collateral in support of recruiting and marketing efforts.
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree a plus, with a minimum of four to six years of marketing, communication, or project management experience. Experience in a higher education setting strongly preferred. The ideal candidate must be able to handle complexity in a fast-paced environment. They must possess excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal skills; strong initiative; ability to think creatively and work under tight deadlines. Experience working with lead generation strategies helpful. Proven ability to work independently, excellent communication and presentation skills, multimedia knowledge and supervisory abilities required
