The Harvard Library Communications Team is looking for a Multimedia Producer who can craft compelling visual stories that bring our one-of-a-kind collections to life.
The Multimedia Producer will work on a team of creative professionals, and occasionally with external production partners, to produce content ranging from video series to podcasts to graphic animations.
Our ideal candidate is creative, self-driven, curious, extremely well organized, and has a good sense of humor. They know a good story when they see one, and know how best to tell that story across various mediums and digital platforms. They know how to create, edit, package and distribute broadcast-caliber visual and audio elements, as well as craft stories that are surprising, entertaining and meet the high standards of Harvard Library.
The Producer's goal will be to tell stories that engage users and expand awareness of Library resources among the general public and the Harvard community. They will develop and implement a comprehensive engagement plan and lead experimentation within the team to evaluate new ways to tell stories and distribute Harvard Library content.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions*):
Pitch, research, write, design, shoot, edit, and produce world-class original content that markets Harvard Library's resources, digital collections, and tools to the public. Projects may include video series, interviews, animated data visualizations/explainers or graphic animations, documentary-style pieces, podcasts, and social media content
Coordinate, schedule, and handle logistics for interviews, contributor meetings, and editorial reviews; serve as point person for external production partners
Perform other duties as necessary
This is a time limited position with an end date of 12/31/2019

Additional Information This position is part of Harvard Public Affairs and Communications on the Harvard Library Communications team. As a client-focused group, the Communications team sits within Harvard Library and has an editor, writer, social media coordinator, graphic design intern, and will be working with a range of professionals within the library. The team works collaboratively and iteratively using Agile principals and has a one-year grant to focus on enhancing its external outreach and marketing, particularly of digital collections. You will be a critical member of this team.

Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
B.A./B.S. and 3+ year of relevant experience or 4-6+ years of relevant experience
Professional video and audio production experience, from pre-production to post, including sound, lighting, shooting, guiding subjects, editing, color correcting, and producing
Mastery of video editing software like Final Cut, Premiere, or Avid; experience with audio and podcast production software; experience with photography, illustration and animation software like Adobe Creative Suite; and basic facility with After Effects or other illustration/animation software
On top of trends in digital video production and consumption
Ability to find and tell a good story; experience with storyboarding and script writing
Strong understanding of social media platforms and experience creating content for social media platforms
Ability to edit clearly but imaginatively, and meet deadlines; good instincts for thinking and communicating graphically with an eye for detail
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, work independently and in collaboration with team members
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and with all levels of management and contributors
