Oversee operations of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) Fabrication Laboratories. Reports to Associate Dean, College of Architecture and Environmental Design.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Establish objectives and develop strategies for achieving objectives.
Integrate traditional analog fabrication methods with emerging digital techniques.
Oversee, operate, and manage the fabrication laboratories and equipment, including: traditional woodworking and metalworking tools, CNC-based tools, vacuum forming and robotic arm work cell.
Establish and maintain effective lab access and safety protocols.
Develop and revise lab policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with lab policies, procedures and protocols.
Evaluate, order, install, maintain and update equipment.
Develop and maintain print and digital resources for facilities and equipment; maintain equipment records.
Provide direct supervison of unclassified and student employees.
Develop and maintain budgets; responsible for purchase recommendations and tracking expenditures.
Provide instruction and/or direction to students and faculty.
Establish a network of local and regional industry partners and material suppliers.
Maintain appropriate supplies.
May engage in curricular development and recruitment activities as needed.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, art, industrial design, engineering or a related field. A minimum of five years of fabrication experience in an academic and/or professional setting, including demonstrable proficiency and experience in fabrication environments, programming and using CNC-based equipment, using and repairing woodworking and metalworking equipment or related experience. Must be able to occasionally work nights and weekends. Must be able to occasionally travel on and off campus.
Must obtain First Aid and CPR within three months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
Master's degree in a design related field. Experience teaching in an academic setting. Advanced level knowledge and/or experience with CAD/CAM software, robotic arm, digital fabrication equipment, woodworking and/or metal working. Supervisory experience.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Exposed to moisture/wetness, variable temperatures and weather conditions, equipment noise, potentially dangerous equipment (e.g. hand and power tools), light chemical substances (e.g. lubricants, finishes, solvents ), electricity; requires moderate physical exertion to include frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds (e.g. motors, repair parts), occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds, climbing ladders. Must have 20/20 vision (naturally or with correction). Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
