•Establishes evaluation criteria for measuring desired results and impact. •Organizes and conducts existing professional development programs and assists in the development of new professional development programs. Assesses professional development presentation results through participant evaluations and levels of interest shown. Based on these results, implements appropriate changes •Prepares, organizes, and maintains kits containing materials and supplies for teachers who implement or pilot science curriculum units, including a biotechnology unit for high school. Provides day-to-day oversight to undergraduates who assist in this effort. •Plans and develops programs and curriculum, and adjusts existing courses and curriculum in an accredited and/or certified public education environment. •Evaluates prospective program partnerships. •Recruits, selects, orients, evaluates and supervises qualified accredited and/or certificate instructors. •Develops, prepares and reconciles budget for program(s).•Strong content background in one or more natural sciences (molecular biology or biochemistry and some knowledge of chemistry strongly preferred) as well as understanding of science pedagogy. •Experience teaching secondary science in formal or informal settings, and/or experience conducting professional development for secondary science teachers. •Good analytical skills to understand how business needs can be addressed through the design and delivery of educational curriculum and programs. •Good reading, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and good presentations skills, for various audiences including the general public and secondary level educators. •Excellent organizational skills •Experience using office software applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google docs) •Able to lift kit boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. •Must be available for occasional work on weekends. •Uses business software systems in the completion of work assignments (for example, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). •Possesses advanced analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. •Demonstrates through knowledge of campus policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work impacts other areas of public educational programs. •Demonstrated expertise in biotechnology and/or related fields
Education/Training: •Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or PhD prefered) in life, Earth, or physical science (molecular biology or biochemistry preferred) or related area and/or equivalent experience/training. •Two to five years of professional experience including science teaching, professional development or curriculum development: a combination of two or all three preferred. Continuing education in related field required. Licenses or certifications, if any: •Must have valid CA driver’s license.
