This position facilitates and ensures the consistent application of standardized professional practice across the facility in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. This position also acts as an interdepartmental liaison to influence professional development in a manner that supports the safe, evidence-based, patient-centered, efficient and cost effective delivery of department services and resources that impact direct patient care.

40 hours per week

8 hours per day

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Partners with advanced practice nurses, nurse leaders, educators and staff to integrate quality, professional practice and development framework, evidence-based practices and cost improvements in clinical care.

2. Maintains the integrity of the NDNQI process. Supports and facilitates clinical and organizational process improvement, measurement and analysis in alignment with the goals and initiatives of the organization. 

3. Collaborates with department, facility and system teams providing leadership, knowledge and tools for analyzing processes and outcomes. Serves as a resource for professional practice activities on behalf of the organization’s journey toward excellence at the facility.

4. Serves as a resource and provides consultative guidance to all staff for professional development. Provides and/or facilitates standardization of professional practice activities at the facility for staff to ensure professional development. Collaborates with other disciplines and facilities to assist with their professional development needs. 

5. Participates in the development of annual departmental professional practice goals and strategic plan. Supports standardization and utilization efforts as they relate to the strategic, facility and departmental goals and direction. Participates in implementation of strategic initiatives, using appropriate delivery methods and processes.

6. Assesses outcomes of evidence-based professional practice and determines methods of improvement. Identifies and recommends improvement approaches and best practice opportunities, supporting operations management and assessing the impact of clinical and operational changes. Participates in process and quality improvement initiatives. 

7. Actively participates in facility Shared Leadership and the Clinical Expert program. Serves as a team leader and/or team member of designated committees.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in nursing or other healthcare related field. Requires a current Alaska state RN license.

Must possess a minimum of 6 years’ clinical experience, and a minimum of 4 years of management experience.  Must possess subject matter expertise in professional practice nursing standards and scope of practice regulations. 

Must demonstrate clear understanding of human relations, shared leadership principles, adult learning theories, complex systems principles and basic business principles as related to health care delivery in an acute care setting. Must have a successful track record in the design and implementation of new programs. Requires the ability to create collaborative working relationships. Must demonstrate analytical, problem solving, project management, critical thinking and organizational skills. Requires effective coaching and negotiation skills along with strong presentation and group facilitation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree preferred

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
