Retina Institute of Virginia, PLLC is seeking a full time Billing and Reimbursement manager. We are a large, busy Ophthalmic practice looking for a self-starter, detail-oriented, and responsible individual with a positive attitude.

Purpose of Job: Oversee all aspects of the Billing Department
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and implements unit strategies, systems and processes, effective organization and supervision of assigned employees and resources within the respective areas of the Billing and Collections Department.
Manages the day to day operations of assigned staff, directs and assigns the work as needed.
Holds weekly collection meetings with billing and collections staff.
Develops policies and detailed procedures for billing and collection activities.
Works with Director of Finance to develop Billing Department benchmarks. Once established, monitors department productivity reports and recommends corrective action when deficiencies are identified.
Develops expertise in third-party billing regulations and requirements. Examines current billing practices for compliance to state and federal mandates. Educate physicians and billing staff on appropriate procedures. Implements and distributes changes in procedures to accommodate new requirements.
Monitors third-party reimbursements via ZirMed and EMR (electronic medical records) reports of selected procedures on a periodic basis. Identifies and recommends options for resolution of reimbursement/billing issues.
Conducts annual review of professional encounter forms for compliance with new CPT and ICD-10 code changes. Designs and updates professional encounter forms as needed throughout the year.
Monitors and adjust time sheets for all billing staff on a daily basis, manage employee time off requests, hold weekly one-on-one meetings, maintain skill evaluation for all billing staff, performs annual staff reviews.
Maintain open communication with other department supervisors by holding brief meetings to discuss any issues or concerns, prepare agenda and effectively communicate information to the staff for monthly staff meetings.

Knowledge and skills:
Intermediate knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer.
Intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and database software skills.

Experience Required: 3-5 years in healthcare/physician billing and collections; minimum of 3 years supervisory work experience, preferably in a healthcare setting; previous experience with Microsoft Office Applications including Microsoft Excel.
