The University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service invite applicants for a full-time position, grant-funded position as Senior Data Analyst on the Portland Campus.
The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for conducting data analyses for methodologically complex health services research and evaluation projects. In this position, she/he will contribute to designing analytic plans and executing complex analyses in collaboration with principal investigators. Responsibilities include writing complex statistical programs using large healthcare and public health administrative data sets, negotiating and managing subcontracts with consultants and subcontractors as needed, analyzing data and interpreting results, and assuring quality and integrity of work conducted by project team members and subcontractors. The Senior Data Analyst is also responsible for preparing project reports and disseminating project findings via presentations and published articles. The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing large health care and public health datasets, particularly claims and eligibility data; the position requires extensive knowledge and experience analyzing administrative claims data (i.e., Medicaid, Medicare, commercial).

Doctorate and two years of experience or Master’s degree and six years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of and experience analyzing healthcare administrative claims and eligibility and other large public health datasets
Knowledge of HIPAA and data security practices and experience working with PHI in protected data security environments
Experience in health policy and health services research in areas related to primary care, quality improvement, patient safety, long-term care, clinical care, vulnerable populations, and health care quality, financing, and access.
Experience in in health policy, public policy, public health, health care, or relevant fields including project management in academic, non-profit or government settings.
