Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Public Health Representative III, for the New Jersey Medical School Clinical Research Unit (CRU).
The primary purpose of the Public Health Representative III position is to support recruitment and retention outreach efforts for the ANCHOR Study. This is a multi center, nationwide study of anal cancer in HIV positive men and women. It is the world’s leading HPV trial for this population. This position will promote study recruitment efforts as the front line study representative to Newark area HIV medical providers, infectious disease clinics and their Community Advisory Boards, community organizations, and LGBTQ groups.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Schedules and conducts in-services about anal cancer, anal cancer screening and the ANCHOR study with Newark area HIV providers and community groups.
Maintains a consistent on-going relationship with these sources for the continue flow of potential new study participants and the retention of existing study participants.
Communicates regularly with the study investigators and coordinator.
Develops and initiates a study recruitment and retention plan.
Participates in study meetings, phone calls, and communicate with the study leads at the University of California San Francisco.
Responsible for pre-screening potential participants.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field plus one (1) year of professional experience in a health or social service related program, which shall have responsibilities for conducting public health and medical provider education.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Detail Oriented, with strong planning/organizational skills and the ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively.
Must have a strong personal code of ethics and integrity and previous experience maintaining confidential data/information.
Ability to effectively communicate with medical providers and potential study participants.
Must have appropriate cultural sensitivity to work with diverse populations.
Thorough working knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practices (GCP) guidelines.
Prior experience in clinical and/or epidemiological research, project management and health/clinical background are a plus.
Prior experience in social media platforms and metrics.
Prior experience working in the adult HIV, LGBT community and/or communities of color.
Prior experience working with other infectious diseases.
Experience with working in an urban area.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
Familiarity with Newark area HIV services and LGBT organizations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
PHYSICALDEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
WORKENVIRONMENT: Clinical environment. Possible exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Proper precautions will be taught and are mandatory.
Will be required to travel to the Newark Area.
