Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Leadership Support will primarily work on identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding alumni with the capacity to annually give $2,500 to $100,000+ to the Haas School of Business. The Associate Director will be part of the Haas Fund Team and collaborate closely with the Major Giving and Alumni Relations staff, but will work fairly independently to develop and manage a portfolio of prospects consisting of 200300 donors (alumni, parents and friends), with the objective of annually completing 200+ significant moves (defined as meaningful interactions that move a prospect closer to making a significant gift to Haas) and 100+ solicitations for gifts of $2,500+ to Berkeley Haas. Ultimately the Associate Director will be expected to annually raise $500,000+ for Berkeley Haas and qualify 510 prospects on their potential to be major gifts donors.
Frontline fundraising/prospect outreach: Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership prospects for increased levels of annual support or special gifts to Berkeley Haas during the fiscal year, with a special focus on raising unrestricted support.
Measures of success:
Manages a prospect portfolio of 200300 prospects. Conducts 120175 visits, via phone or inperson, resulting in a solicitation/decision by June 30th. Conducts additional cultivation and stewardship visits as necessary. Collaborates and partners with Major Gift Officers, Annual Giving Officers, Gift Administration, Stewardship, Institutes/Centers, University Relations and campus Development Officers as necessary to ensure all tracked prospects are adequately engaged, solicited, and stewarded. Directly or indirectly increases giving ($500,000) among personally and shared tracked prospects by 1030%. Identifies 25 new major and/or planned gift prospects. Tracks all outreach and results in CADS.
Program management: Serves as the lead or in a support role in managing various programs directed towards instilling a culture of giving back to Berkeley Haas among our students, recent graduates and alumni, including our school's student and reunion campaigns, giving day, donor appreciation week activities, donor challenge matches, leadership donor engagement events, etc.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience. 3+ years of relevant experience in fundraising/business development Thorough working knowledge and understanding of fundraising, donor relations, or business development concepts, principles, techniques, procedures and practices. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals Demonstrated experience engaging diverse populations Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to articulate a compelling case for annual discretionary support for higher education, as well as the rationale and goals of a leadership giving program Strong initiative and attention to detail Available for some evening and weekend work Able to occasionally travel (predominantly within California, with occasional outofstate domestic travel) and work week nights and weekends Ability to use standard computer office/business technologies, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google (EMail, Calendar & Drive), Customer Relationship Management/Donor Databases (Salesforce, Razor's Edge, etc.) Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, et cetera. Thorough written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to build and maintain effective working relationship at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies. Thorough analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decisionmaking and problem identification/avoidance/resolution. Thorough project management skills. Skills, ability and motivation to meet or exceed fundraising goals and objectives. This position has been designated as sensitive and requires a Criminal Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating leadership level prospects and donors. Demonstrated experience in personally soliciting gifts of $10,000 or more from individuals 5+ years of experience in higher education fundraising in a personal (facetoface/frontline) fundraising role for leadership level gifts of $10,000 or greater. Knowledge of and appreciation for UC Berkeley and the Haas School of Business' mission, history and goals.
Salary & Benefits
Annual Salary Range up to the midpoint: $105,200.00
