The Opus College of Engineering at Marquette University invites nominations and applications for the position of Professor of Practice to support the Master's Across Boundaries graduate student programs. The Master's Across Boundaries Program is redesigning how we prepare graduate and professional students, elevating industry perception of and participation in our new programs, developing programs that foster an Ignatian mindset (serving the great good through one's impact as an engineer), and increasing the diversity of the students and faculty within the OCOE. The Professor of Practice will work with the Executive Director of the Master's Across Boundaries Program to teach graduate level courses, develop new, innovative courses that meet industry identified needs, and directly support the growth of interdisciplinary graduate programs across the Opus College.
The successful candidate will also maintain and enhance productive relationships and development activities with alumni, industry, academia, and government agencies. The credentials of the Professor of Practice will include a record of industry experience, professional credentials and excellent interpersonal skills, in addition to a strong desire to develop the knowledge and skills of practicing engineers. The appointment is expected to be made at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice (non-tenured) with an anticipated start date of March 1, 2019.
The Marquette campus is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Michigan, in a region with over 2 million people and wide range of industry, to include the global and North American headquarters of several Fortune 500 companies. The Professor of Practice position is part of a multi-year, strategic initiative to hire four Professors of Practice across the Opus College to better serve industry and the working engineer's needs.
