The Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University seeks an experienced Administrative Assistant to provide a wide range of critical administrative and program duties to the Center and its Executive Director, Professor Urs Gasser. We are searching for an Administrative Assistant who possesses initiative, judgment, diplomacy, a positive attitude, and the highest integrity. This individual will join the Center's world-class community of scholars and digital architects and work in close collaboration with Center faculty, staff, and fellows to advance a range of interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research related to the study and development of Internet & society.
Specific duties will include: maintaining Professor Gasser's calendar, including responding to internal and external requests for information and scheduling; organizing meeting preparations, assisting with monitoring timelines and tracking outputs, providing substantive and administrative support for Professor Gasser, his various projects and other Center-wide initiatives, coordinating correspondence with external partners, funders, and affiliates, integrating the efforts of multiple team members and the faculty board, and serving as a faculty assistant for the Executive Director in his role as a professor at Harvard Law School.
Additionally, the Administrative Assistant will assist the Berkman Klein Center's administrative and communications teams on initiatives and events connected to Professor Gasser's role as Executive Director of the Center and as Principal Investigator of numerous projects. This individual will provide logistical support for planning, managing, and operations of events and will interface with the relevant project teams to ensure goals are met.

Based on the fast-paced and changing needs of the Berkman Klein Center, the Administrative Assistant may be called upon for other tasks at short notice. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

3+ years of administrative, events or relevant business and/or academic experience required. Post-secondary education may count toward experience.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Applicant must have solid experience managing calendars and interacting/problem solving with a wide range of constituents. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated strong organizational skills, superior attention to detail, ability to handle large work volume and juggle priorities independently. Proactive, flexible, self-motivated work style and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are critical. Experience with Google Suite desirable, as is the ability to learn new software programs. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, self-motivated environment. Must be able to work alone and in teams. Event management experience preferred.
