Varied and busy role; a key member of the Artistic Planning team
Based in Wellington
Founded in 1946, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is the country’s national professional orchestra and one of the few touring orchestras in the world, performing in many cities and towns around New Zealand each year.
Reporting to the Head of Artistic Planning, the Artistic Associate – Projects & Outreach will play a critical role in facilitating the planning and implementation of the artistic programme. Conducting research and advance programming on new formats, commercial and outreach activity, project managing non-subscription activity, such as Lexus Song Quest, collaborations with Festivals, film scoring projects and outreach activities. Also co-ordinating and monitoring event budgets and providing information to the Finance department.
It is an exciting time to join the NZSO as there is a lot on the agenda, with more focus on trying new activities and broadening our reach. We are therefore seeking a self-starter who is able to deliver on a very busy role that requires excellent relationship management skills plus the ability to get the details right, and to contribute to the great work the Artistic Planning team is already doing.

Experience in planning symphonic repertoire is essential
Superior communication skills
Effective planning, project management and organisational abilities
Exceptional relationship management abilities with both internal and external stakeholders
Exceptional attention to detail
Experience with such Software applications as - Arts Vision, Microsoft word for windows, Excel spreadsheets, Access databases, Impresario, email etc.
Tertiary qualification in Music is essential
Experience in other art forms, festivals, is a plus
Previous experience working with communities and outreach activities welcomed.
