The Media Design Specialist position is part of the College of Pharmacy marketing and communications office and is responsible for implementing frontend web changes to pharmacy.osu.edu, and developing and implementing unique, creative and innovative concepts and design strategies across the full spectrum of print graphics and rich interactive media environments, including video, interactive PDFs, Flash, animated email and web graphics. This position reports to the director of communications and collaborates with other college and university partners to support, produce, and implement various college-wide campaigns, projects and additional marketing and communications tactics to further position the college and inform the brand narrative. Proven experience in concept development, layout design, and typography in both print and digital application is required. Functions in a conceptual and creative mode independently coordinating many projects.
Success in this position would look like:
First three months: - Learning Drupal 8, system powering pharmacy.osu.edu and how to make day-to-day changes and updates - Developing an understanding of communication office process and how the office interacts with the rest of the college - Purchasing necessary equipment for success in the position within the budget available - Developing a needs-assessment for current promotional efforts, prioritizing prospective students
By six months: - Development of at least one video project - A basic understanding of The College of Pharmacy, its stakeholders and the priorities of the administrative team - A solid understanding of responsibilities and management of workflow -Development of a plan for media on social, marketing emails, website, etc.
By one year: - Leading production of multimedia efforts and planning for all aspects of the college
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communication, Graphic Design, Video Production or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 3-4 years of experience in all aspects of the graphic and art design field, from concept through project completion; experience in visual communications including multi-media, print, and web; extensive knowledge of print and web layout, design and graphic applications, concepts, and theories; proven knowledge of computer graphics software programs including Drupal, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Flash; demonstrated ability to work as a productive member in a team environment and remain focused under pressure.
Target Salary: $20.67 - $23.56 Hourly
