This position is responsible for implementing marketing and communications strategies related to digital, social media, and multimedia content within the Office of International Services (OIS). Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Communications Specialist provides recommendations for social media strategy, including researching and managing social media channels specific to various domestic and international markets.
This position is the primary creator of social media content, and will liaise with and/or supervise hourly employees charged with language translation of content and management of internationally-focused social media accounts. The position monitors social media engagement by various entities and consumers and provides related reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Additionally, the position assists with other creative and content-based projects as needed, including print and graphic design, copywriting, copy editing, script writing, videography, and video post-production. As part of the Marketing and Communications unit, this position provides on-site support to various OIS and university events as assigned.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in communications, film, journalism, advertising, marketing, public relations, English, or related field.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Experience in graphic design programs like the Adobe Creative Suite. The ability to work effectively under deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with a professional demeanor. A positive, proactive, and creative mindset.
The successful candidate will undergo significant training and development related to IU brand management and communication strategies employed by the OIS.
Experience working with a variety of multimedia content creation; experience with various digital media and social media platforms; experience shooting video with a DSLR camera or similar; experience with script writing and video post-production in Adobe Premiere Pro or similar; project and design management.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Ability to work for relatively long periods of time at computer; ability to use desktop and laptop computer; ability to carry and set-up various video and audio equipment, lighting equipment, and sets/backdrops at departmental, campus, or community events; ability to manage and/or staff programming and events for department or campus including event set-up and tear-down.
