Rutgers University has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, results-oriented professional to join University Human Resources (UHR) as the Training and Employee Development Specialist. We are looking for an innovative and proactive professional who will be responsible for leading end-to-end training programs – including analysis, design, development delivery, and evaluation – to train and develop Employee Service Center (ESC) employees, enabling them to be successful in their roles. The ideal candidate should: be passionate about designing best in class learning and development programs, leveraging current and emerging learning practices and technology to respond to audience needs, championing a formal and informal learning environment across the ESC organization. This position will work closely with the ESC leadership team to make the ESC a continuous learning organization, identify and address training needs across the ESC organization, and ensure ESC employees have tailored training and development opportunities to help them advance professionally. This position reports to the Director of Shared Services.
Support ESC leadership to develop overall ESC strategic plan and growth strategy, and ensure translation of strategy into tangible objectives, targets, and actions.
Identify and incorporate leading practices, innovative approaches, and digital tools into overall training programs for ESC employees.
Develop and manage comprehensive ESC training strategy to align with overall goals and objectives of the organization.
Identify training needs and opportunities for ESC employees across all levels; assess training needs through surveys, skills assessments, interviews with customers and consultations with ESC supervisors.
Proactively assess and identify the root causes of employee knowledge gaps.
Design, create and maintain customized training materials such as training manuals, online learning modules, and job aids, course materials, and simulations.
Deliver training to employees using a variety of instructional techniques.
Evaluate, select and monitor performance of external training vendors.
Monitor and evaluate training programs to ensure they are current and effective; create and report objective evidence of competency and/or effectiveness of trainings.
Assist with the development of employee retention and engagement programs.
Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment, and coordinating enrollment for trainings.
Monitor participation and status of ESC employees in required ESC training programs.
Oversee the implementation and administration of LMS (learning management system).
Organize and conduct new hire training for the ESC; maintain a consistent and effective approach in the new hire training of all ESC employees.
Participates in special projects and performs others duties as assigned.
Create, foster and maintain a collaborative, innovative and customer-focused team culture.
Support employee engagement and development initiatives for ESC employees to enhance job satisfaction and morale.
Coordinate closely with ESC leadership team to provide ESC employees with opportunities for cross training, rotational programs and career progression.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in education, management, I/O psychology, organizational development, human resources, or closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, plus 2 years of experience in leading training and development programs of large organizations.

Experience with training development software programs (e.g., Captivate, Articulate).
LMS design, implementation and configuration.
