Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant which will report directly to the Dean of the School of Criminal Justice.
The Senior Administrative Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for all internal and external constituencies and must be creative, driven and community-oriented. S/he must manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines and provide administrative and technical assistance on a wide range of special projects as assigned by the Dean. The person in this role provides confidential executive assistance for the Dean’s Office and is the primary representative of the Dean.
The Senior Administrative Assistant Supports the cohesive team of students, faculty and staff serving the educational and research mission of the school and the duties include but are not limited to: -Main contact for all room scheduling -Oversees and manages the daily operations of the Office of the Dean -Maintains and updates the school’s website and oversees coordination of all marketing publication materials -Liaison to committees and research teams and supports special projects under the guidance of the Dean -Provides administrative support to all functions of the office including assistance to fundraising processes and alumni activities

Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, and/or reporting writing principles and practices.
Requires up to 2 years relevant experience in an administrative role, excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced technical and computer skills with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic calendar management, as well as social media. Requires effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and computer literacy.
The position requires excellent project management skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task with demanding time frames.
Project Management training. A demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and ability to work with individuals or groups with diverse backgrounds. Will have experience working in a fast-paced, professional office environment. Ideal candiate will also have experience functioning in a team-essential setting.
Masters Degree preferred with 5 years relevant experience in an administrative role supporting an Executive.
Microsoft Office suite. Candidate will also need skills in website and social media management. Candidate must become familiar in using university-specific software programs including those in Cornerstone (Expense Management, ROCS, HCM, etc) to have the skills required for job functions.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Normal average office work environment. No heavy lifting required.
