Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Researcher IV – Comm for The Human Genetics Institute of NJ – RUCDR. This position assists and supports overseeing projects at the RUCDR that are critical to the function and success of the organization. The Laboratory Researcher IV- Comm is involved with strategic planning to achieve client/project goals. This position is capable of working independently to ensure projects are completed within scope, deadline, and budget and serves as a liaison between the service laboratory and the client
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Supports multiple projects for key RUCDR accounts from project initiation through final deliverables.
Communicates with peers, lab managers, RUCDR directors, and clients in reviewing project status, performance, and issue resolution on an ongoing basis.
Responsible for supporting day to day management of RUCDR grants, contracts and service agrements from an operational framework. This includes the scheduling and coordination with technical staff across RUCDR units and training for project specific tasks.
Provides oversight of responsibilities for individual lab units as it pertains to project goals and timelines.
Responsible for providing support to lab units in a dynamic capacity given project deadlines.
Assists management and directors in preparation of contract and grant proposals, progress reports, and developing budgeting and cost allocation information.
Attends weekly and periodic management meetings (RUCDR unit meetings, Supervisors meetings, Project Management meetings) to discuss overall operational, management, and strategic planning that affects RUCDR center operations
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a BS in life sciences with genomics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must perform basic scientific routines, protocols, and tests and articulate data to researchers.
Requires the ability to group lead.
Must participate in required occupational health and safety programs.
Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must lift and move up to 30 pounds
Must operate and maintain sophisticated equipment.
Requires a valid driver's license, two years driving experience, and successful completion of the Rutgers' Defensive Driving Course. Regular workweek may include evening and/or weekend work.
