Position Overview: Thompson & Knight is seeking a Manager of Law Student Recruiting who will be responsible for all aspects of law school recruiting, including Fall and summer programs across all offices, as well as special projects relating to attorney and staff development. This position may be located in either our Dallas or Houston office. The Manager of Law Student Recruiting will work closely with the Director of Attorney Recruiting to support the firm’s growth while maintaining and improving its cultural, diversity, and quality standards.
Manages all aspects of law school recruiting, including on-campus and in-office interviews.
Manages callback decisions, receptions, post-offer events and follow up.
Manages the offer process for all student candidates, including communication and coordination with candidates, firm attorneys, and administrative management.
Oversees on-campus hospitality suites during the interview season, creating and implementing creative give-a-ways and initiatives to attract top talent.
Develops good relations with career services offices in law schools, leveraging alumni attorneys and overseeing firm sponsorship of student groups.
Manages the law school recruiting efforts, including determining where to interview, scheduling OCI interviewers, managing the organization of interview materials, delegating OCI registration and OCI school assignments to team members, and overseeing 1L recruiting.
Manages the firm’s summer program across all offices, organizing, overseeing, and participating in summer events and summer associate orientation.
Manages and monitors summer associate work evaluations and collaborates with practice groups to schedule meetings to evaluate summer associate candidates.
Manages entry level recruiting budget and recruiting staff.
Plans law school events, offeree events, and other key recruiting events.
Collaborates with firm leadership to create unique marketing materials and announcements, regularly updating career pages on the firm’s website and working to elevate TK’s brand.
Maintains recruiting statistics, and prepares periodic reports and analyses.
Actively participates in, contributes to, and supports a variety of firm committees and teams as appropriate.
Special research projects as assigned by the Director of Attorney Recruiting.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required. 4+ years recruiting experience, law firm preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with lawyers, staff, peers, and a variety of external entities. Excellent project management and organizational skills. A self-starter who is detail oriented and can adapt to change quickly. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle a wide variety of responsibilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, MS Outlook, and applicant tracking software (viDesktop preferred).
This position requires regular on-site attendance in the Dallas or Houston office. Some evenings and weekend work required during peak seasons. Requires regular and predictable attendance to the assigned work schedule.
