Reporting to the Director of Access Control and Systems, the Sr. Access Control System Administrator assists in the planning, development, and implementation of information systems, Access Control Systems; manages all universities access control projects, maintains, upgrades, and installs application software, security software, monitoring of all FMIS client systems and application servers; acts as liaison with clients utilizing the FMIS systems; provides hardware/software support to end users; installs hardware and performs preventive maintenance tasks; performs analytical, technical, and administrative work in planning, implementing and implementing systems and technical solutions. Performs related duties as assigned, necessary, or requested by management.
Performs the installation, testing, maintenance and upgrading of systems software and hardware on various access control platforms, according to standards set by Executive Director of Facilities Information Technology and Director of Access Control and Systems, to insure the compatibility, effectiveness, security and integrity of all systems and services.
As the Sr. Access Control System Administrator he/she will be the senior lead, manage and assists in the installation, configuration, and updating of client/server applications on both the server and clients as necessary to ensure proper communication, functionality, and security.
Facilitates and monitors access control alerts, maintains and manages universities alarm systems. Create and maintain system documentation. Configures and maintains access control credentials for university, configures and maintains BOSCH alarm panel systems.
Coordinates with Access Control team to manage and assist in the installation and troubleshooting of Access Control locks and preventive maintenance of systems and locks across campus.
Coordinates and/or performs the installation of access control hardware in support of facilities access control projects. Manages access and permissions for stake owners to the access controls systems.
Develops scripts and command procedures to enhance the functionality and manageability of supported systems.
Maintains integrity and appropriate confidentiality in institutional and program operations. Contributes to the preparation of studies and reports containing findings and recommendations for the implementation of systems, security and application software.
Acts as liaison with external vendors to ensure that new and existing hardware and software installations meet the needs of the unit as well as conform to all IT computing standards.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and cooperative working relationships with University Facility, Staff, and Students, in order to accomplish the mutual objectives of both Student Development and Campus Life and the Facilities Information Technology Division.
Develops appropriate communication with user community to insure transfer of operational, procedural, and policy information.
Works with project managers and internal clients to verify the business and system requirements, which generate the need for changes in the information technology infrastructure.
Consults with supervisor concerning problems/obstacles, task prioritization, and policy matters. Offers suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
Attends and participates in meetings or university events related to assigned responsibilities.
Maintains system and network logs as necessary to identify potential security threats or attacks/probes on systems.
Evaluates and recommends hardware and/or software to meet current and future needs on all supported facilities computing platforms.
Compiles and analyzes systems and networks data as required to assist in capacity planning so computing and networking resources can be utilized to their full potential.
Represents the university at conferences, seminars or meetings, and serves on ad hoc and standing committees as required.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Access Control and Systems.

Knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems, networking systems and systems administration related tasks.
Strong knowledge of Access Control Systems and how to mitigate them through proper security configuration.
Knowledge of Internet standard protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, IMAP/POP, and HTTP and Routing protocols.
Ability to maintain a best practices approach to system installation, maintenance, and security posture in a production environment.
Graduation from an accredited university/college with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or a minimum of four years relevant Information Technology/Access Control professional experience.
The ability to engage in clear, courteous, effective, and professional oral and written communications with all University constituents, external customers, and business partners.
The ability to report to work or work outside of standard business hours, when necessary.

Ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the program or unit purpose, goals, and objectives. Ability to acquire knowledge of the laws and regulations which impact on the program or unit.
Ability to prepare clear and detailed correspondence.
Ability to represent the university at conferences and seminars.
Ability to evaluate procedures and develop alternative methods to improve procedures to meet institution, division, and unit objectives.

Professional experience in Information Technology, Access Control and support, preferably in an institution of higher education or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position.
