The University of Kentucky Light Microscopy facility seeks a Microscopy Technician to support the daily operations in the facility. Responsibilities include performing tasks related to the operation, training and maintenance of a diverse set op optical microscopes, an atomic force microscope and various sample preparation tools in support of the entire research community of the University of Kentucky. The Technician will be responsible for lab management tasks, including administrative duties related to billing, support of researchers and be involved in the organization of workshops and seminars. The technician is also expected to contribute to outreach and promotional activities of the Light Microscopy Core. The position provides a stimulating environment supported by cutting edge technology and engaging work of an international research community with professional development opportunities.
Good project management skills, excellent communication in English and the ability to collaborate with others in a research environment and outside of it are essential for a successful candidate. Furthermore, good knowledge of desktop software applications and good interpersonal skills are crucial.

Applicants should have a university degree or technical school training in a science, engineering or in a related a field. Experience in microscopy, optics, or research laboratory is preferred.
