DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE, GLOBAL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Global Leadership Development includes the Principal Gift, International and Planned Giving teams, responsible for raising capital gifts of seven-figure-plus toward the Campaign for Boston University. This team collaborates closely with the President's Office, the schools/colleges Deans and development staff, as well as Leadership Gifts and Alumni Relations to steward our top prospects and fund priorities at the University.
The Development Associate provides support for the presidential development events and works directly with Board members. This position works with the Senior Vice President, Vice President, Development; Director-Global Leadership Development; Directors of Principal Gifts, and the President's Office. Two other key responsibilities include overseeing University presidential prospect briefings and travel and coordinating Principal Gift related stewardship and events. The Development Associate supports two or more Principal Gift/International Development officers. The Development Associate must work cooperatively with a wide variety of colleagues and external constituents, including University leadership, faculty, staff, and alumni, to help execute strategies and work toward overall development goals.
Specific Duties include:
Presidential Prospect Coordination and Administrative Support: 60%
The Development Associate will draft and coordinate the confidential briefing materials and related travel for development-related presidential prospect visits, travel and events. This position will be the main administrative support for two or more senior Principal Gift and/or International Development Officers. He/she will also attend confidential prospect review meetings with senior staff and President/President's staff to support the setting of itineraries, prospect outreach, assistance with prospect correspondence, and the preparation of reports.
Development and Presidential Events: 20%
The Development Associate will assist with all phases of planning,execution and follow-up of development and presidential development events. Communication includes direct contact with high-level donors,preparing and disseminating event materials, working with faculty speakers, working with outside vendors and managing logistics. Tasks include: booking space, catering, tracking registrations, running name tags, staffing speakers, preparing collateral's (invites, speaker gifts, etc.), tracking event timelines, communicating with colleagues regarding events. Includes post event follow up and tracking, next steps and outreach. Events will be hosted throughout the United States in coordination with the President's development travel.
Manage Principal Gift Stewardship and Campaign Projects: 15%
The Development Associate will work closely with the Director of Global Leadership Development, assist with all phases of developing and stewarding million dollar donor society and campaign steering committee. Attend the events. Communication includes direct contact with high-level donors, working with outside vendors and managing logistics. Tasks include: managing membership lists, preparing membership invitation packages, booking space, catering, tracking registrations, running name tags, working with speakers, preparing collateral's (invites, programs, speaker gifts, etc.), tracking event timelines, communicating with colleagues regarding events. Includes post event follow up and tracking of newly identified prospects.
Candidates must have three to five years experience, a bachelors degree is required. Additionally, written communications, analytical skills, collaboration, and project management skills are required. Strong computer, organizational and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to prioritize the workload.
