Bioinformatics Scientist (1805839) – Research Triangle Park, NC
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking a professional like you to join the Computational Chemistry & Bioinformatics group within the global Digitalization in R&D function at our site in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
In this role, you will work closely with other researchers, computational biologists and bioinformaticians in providing data analysis support. You will support the analysis and integration of diverse biological data including next generation sequencing, large scale genomic, gene expression, microbiome, and phenotypic data. In addition, you will work on global multifunctional project teams and contributing towards development of novel R&D strategies.
Formula for Success
· Leveraging your MS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field with Bioinformatics analysis experience or BS with 2 years Bioinformatics analysis experience you will conduct independent data analysis and interpretation and generate reports.
· Demonstrating your experience with UNIX/Linux and the use of various bioinformatics and data analysis applications, you will develop, optimize, and apply pipelines and algorithms for processing and analyzing biological data.
Your computing skills with Python and familiarity with other scripting/programming languages will aid you in curating and managing of large bioinformatics datasets.
Your strong customer focus, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to lead projects will be essential as you gather end user requirements, evaluate tools, and coordinate efforts between the project teams and IT groups to define, validate and implement software for data management and analysis.
· Additional knowledge and/or experience in the following will assist and enable success in this role:
o Familiarity with biology and genomics of plants, fungi, or microbes
o Understanding of statistical analysis methods and experience with R or SAS
o Experience using APIs for application development
o Experience supporting bioinformatics workflow management systems such as Galaxy
o SQL and knowledge of database design
