As the Director of Patient Services you will have responsibility for leading, designing, and implementing a wide array of ABTA’s national patient services and supportive programs. You will develop strategies, set goals/targets/metrics and integrates the strategic plan of the organization into patient directed programs and education services. You should be an expert resource regarding service excellence and patient experience. You will identify strategic and programmatic priorities that promote the ABTA’s mission and vision through organic growth of its programs delivered by staff and will also create and execute a plan to build relationships with allied health professionals and national health organizations to expand the reach of our programs.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Implements a strategy for the expansion of ABTA’s education programs in accordance with ABTA’s mission and vision.
Identifies and recommends areas for focused improvement in the areas of the ABTA Careline, patient meetings, online social media network, and dynamic use of existing and emerging technology.
Analyzes results of competitive analyses of the neuro-oncology patient education environment and related recommendations for improving ABTA’s patient education programs and services.
Develops new programs as needed to help advance ABTA’s mission
Works with healthcare professionals to maximize outreach and strengthen organizational partnerships.
Develops and implements an actionable plan for developing patient education services, outlining capacity requirements and budget impact of national expansion.
Determines fiscal goals for programs and services in collaboration with the Chief Mission Officer
Serves as a professional liaison to the healthcare community and collaborates with other health professionals and groups to advance industry best practices and identify trends.
Establishes and maintains key program outcome metrics and evaluates effectiveness and impact.
Updates and refines patient services Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed on an annual basis, monitors implementation of and compliance with SOP updates and provides training when necessary.
Organizes and leads meetings and conference calls related to patient services programs, including the annual Patient and Family Conference
Serves as a visible leader of the ABTA’s strategic growth initiatives and collaborates with Senior Managers and staff to support effective program development.
Oversees the updating and printing of ABTA educational materials and resources, including publications and webinars
Patient Services Communications
Develops programs and facilitates training of health care professionals on the local level, including doctor’s office personnel, social workers, nurses and brain tumor patients.
Utilizes E-technologies, social media Web sites, and other emerging technologies for program delivery and brand extension.
Works closely with the Marketing and Communications team for marketing the programs and developing education and training materials. Some writing/editing of health related content required.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at any time.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Minimum of master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, social work, nursing or related field. RN license preferred.
Two to five years of experience building community outreach initiatives and program planning.
Demonstrated team leadership ability.
Strong project management skills.
Strategic planning and visioning experience in a non-profit environment. Considerable experience in neurological disease field preferred.
Ability to evaluate national impact, programmatic effectiveness, analyze trends, and integrate evaluation results into new program planning.
Experience managing non-profit programs with a focus on growth, expansion, and strategic positioning.
Demonstrated ability to understand program structure, design and portability. Strong financial aptitude, including experience creating financial projections in a non-profit environment.
Ability to lead a mixed team of healthcare professionals and support staff in an association / non-profit social service organization setting.
Familiarity with insurance policies as well as national standards in patient education and/or healthcare informatics.
High attention to detail, strong process orientation, demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
Ability to work on multiple projects and function effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong proficiency using Microsoft Office, E-technologies, familiarity with Web analytics, Web-based CMS, and social networking site administration.
Ability to travel up to approximately 25%
