JOB SUMMARY: Stores and distributes materials and product throughout the manufacturing environment by means of a variety of material handling equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Reads production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to designated areas throughout the manufacturing facility.
Sorts and places materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to documented standard work, or predetermined sequence (ie. Part number, commodity, size, product code).
Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for material, tools, or other stock items and distributes to production work areas.
Marks materials with identifying information.
Opens boxes, crates, and other containers.
Weighs or counts items for distribution to ensure conformance to standard work and company policy.
Fills customer orders from stock and conveys orders packing stations or shipping department.
Drives forklift or other material handling vehicles when necessary to perform duties (Valid Forklift Operators License preferred).
Supports 5S/workplace organization goals of the department and offers suggestions and makes improvements that achieve the department’s performance board metrics.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to three months related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Write routine reports and intra-department communications.
Calculate figures and apply concepts of fractions, percentages and ratios.
Apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistical quality control.
Effectively present information verbally and written and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customer, and dealers.
Perform basic Microsoft Office skills, CAD and other software.
Perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis.
Perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.
