Reporting to the AVP of Creative Services and Marketing, the campus photographer is part of the Creative Services team and plays an important role in creating compelling images in support of University Marketing's brand and marketing goals.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university and six months experience in multimedia production or a related field. A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Licenses, Certificates, Credentials: N/A
Working knowledge of the development of professional images in a range of styles.
Working knowledge of photographic production equipment and techniques.
Demonstrated expertise using Adobe Creative Cloud and Photoshop or comparable software for image retouching and finishing.
Knowledge of a full range of photography techniques including lighting, editing methods and equipment.
Knowledge of safety requirements, standard to the industry, including how to handle hazardous chemicals and materials.
Understanding of artificial and reflective photographic lighting and the use of studio lighting kits and on-camera flash equipment.
Ability to consistently deliver high-quality images that embody the university brand.
Solid writing and editing skills, including a strong foundation in English grammar.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
Strong research skills and broad knowledge of resources and techniques which communicate information through multimedia productions.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
Proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.
Ability to effectively supervise student assistants.
Working knowledge of or ability to learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures.
Two years of on-the-job experience or through technical experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.
Experience with Photoshelter.
Flexibility to adjust to change (scheduling: nights and weekends/work environments: indoor/outdoor).

Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
This position classification has been defined as non-exempt and is subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Retired CalPERS members selected for this vacancy must request and be approved for reinstatement from retirement prior to the start date.
