The Senior Manager of Support Services is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the technology needs of Auxiliary Services. This includes proper operation and maintenance of access control, POS systems, video surveillance systems, VM Server coordination, desktop computers and other ancillary electronic systems for Auxiliary Services and collaborating departments at the University of Maine.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manages all aspects of technology equipment utilized by the various departments within Auxiliary Services. Evaluates, recommends and implements new technologies and works with staff to maintain current technologies.
Oversees technical aspects of access security systems in residence halls and other buildings, including exterior hall access (Blackboard) and individual student room access (Persona). Serves as a coordinator with Residential Life, the UMaine Police Department, Campus Security, and Facilities Management to ensure the safety of students and staff on campus.
Manages support for all MaineCard attended and unattended point of sale (POS) readers including, but not limited to, cash registers, deposit stations, copy readers, activity readers, security readers, laundry readers, and associated peripheral devices. Coordinates on-site support for athletic event concessions and remote site catering and dining services events.
Manages security-related projects including the campus video surveillance system with Auxiliary Services Housing Services, Facilities Management, ITS, and off-campus vendors.
Oversees multi-channel video services for campus residents.
Manages support staff whose responsibilities includes hands-on coordination of departmental VM servers, digital signage and desktop operation systems and hardware.
Manages support staff whose responsibilities include day-to-day maintenance of door access systems, Dining Services’ point of sales systems, video surveillance equipment and various other technical systems.
Develops and provides staff training on department systems and procedures for direct and indirect reports.
Stays current on industry trends and applicable technological advancements and pursues professional development opportunities.
Knowledge & Skill Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field and 5-7 years of applicable experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and associated operating systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency in communication technologies, including coax, fiber, serial and RF distribution.
Experience coordinating people, projects, and tasks to successful outcomes. Project Management Professional certification or equivalent is preferred.
Strong ability to exercise independent judgment, to take initiative, and to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with all levels of the University community.
Demonstrated experience in the electrical fields, including knowledge of instrumentation and control circuitry. Low Voltage Electrician’s license desired.
Basic understanding of TCP/IP communication protocols.
Ability to travel normally requiring a driver’s license.
Experience with control access and alarm systems is desirable.
Knowledge of multi-channel video systems desirable.
Additional Salary Information: The proposed hiring range for this position is $53,000-$58,000 depending upon qualifications.
