This position is in the Entrepreneurship Center. This position is for the Danforth Campus.
The Program and Event Coordinator will be responsible for the execution and continuous measurable improvement of the Entrepreneurship Center’s programs, events, and initiatives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and lead specific programs for the Center including:
Hatchery course (coordinate and oversee networking receptions, recruit/retain high quality mentors/judges, plan two presentation cycles per semester).
Honors/Scholars programs (track recipients for honors/scholars programs and develop specific activities geared towards these students).
Coordinate relationship with faculty in academic programs related to these initiatives and with the students the programs serve. Serve as the first point of contact at flagship events such as IdeaBounce® and the Skandy Awards.
Provide operational support for all other events and programs (workshops, competitions, expert hours, entrepreneurs-in-residence, creativity events, etc.) in the Center. Manage student staff to ensure successful and connected activity across the Center’s suite of programs. Update website with program and event information. Attend events to prevent issues and ensure smooth implementation.
Actively track metrics and analyze demand/satisfaction/outcomes associated with Center initiatives; manage databases, and assist with custom surveys. Input data, update records, run reports, in coordination with WUSTL colleagues.
Manage budget for programs and events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The work environment is primarily an office setting with frequent events/programs where transporting of lightweight (15lbs) materials/tables/etc will be required.
Many events and programs are held in the evenings and on weekends, thereby requiring hours/activities outside the normal work-day as needed. Work will be conducted at both the Danforth and Medical School campuses and occasionally off-campus.
High school degree with 5 years of related experience; or Undergraduate degree with 1 year of related experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Outlook, and Access)
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal; a service-oriented communicator who is a true team player
Strong creative and problem-solving skills, organizational skills, event management, attention to detail, and customer service skills
Experience with social media and website maintenance
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and at various locations
Ability to lift and move 15lbs.
Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of experience in a complex university or business environment
Experience with events, programs, and initiatives in an entrepreneurial context
Proven ability to handle confidential information responsibly
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines with varying degrees of pressure; ability to exercise judgment and take corrective action
Previous experience at WashU a plus
This position requires a self-starter with excellent project management, technical, communication (both written and oral), and interpersonal skills; A self-motivated individual driven by challenge with the ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity
Must be able to work independently in an environment of multiple and conflicting priorities and projects; anticipate and resolve problems and updates supervisor on status of projects
The candidate should have good professional judgment, initiative, and confidence
The candidate will work independently but have the ability to function as part of a team, coordinating with multiple constituencies
The hiring range for this position is $20.77 - $26.46 per hour.
