The Division of Enrollment Services is dedicated to providing Carnegie Mellon University with accurate and timely services to assist with registration and grading processes, course and classroom scheduling, graduation, student billing and financial aid, and more. The Enrollment Systems department has six full-time staff, supplemented with one to three full-time contracted staff, which is charged with developing and maintaining the University’s student information system(s). The primary system (S3 (Student Services Suite)) is a homegrown enterprise system providing standard enrollment functionality and customized business solutions for students, faculty, staff and parents across many units, serving all campuses and global locations.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President/Director of Enrollment Services, we are searching for a Director of Enrollment Systems. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and fast-paced work environment. You will serve on the Enrollment Services leadership team, encompassing both strategic and operational decision-making, work closely with CMU’s central computing services division, and manage staff that support the IT needs of a major administrative unit, in order to ensure delivery of services and system responses across the university community.
Core responsibilities will include:
Serve as an authority and consulting advisor to academic and administrative units that are exploring and/or implementing boutique IT systems that will attach to or rely on CMU’s student data or systems.
Lead planning efforts regarding the direction and technology platforms for the S3, new features and maintenance, data integrity and management, and trouble-shooting for the system, as well as data access controls oversight and governance.
Play a key role in setting and maintaining project sizing and scope, requirements gathering, system modeling, use cases, testing, and go-live approval.
Manage professional staff to include project and production managers, business and system analysts, etc. and handle department budget.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analysis or related field required; Master’s degree in Management Information Systems or applicable field highly desired.
Minimum five years of relevant experience required; experience in higher-education preferred.
Professional certification or advanced training in project management preferred.
Experience developing and documenting use/test cases for Test Driven Development (TDD), understanding of agile development cycles, working knowledge of Kanban, Scrum, and continuous delivery methodologies highly desired.
Ability to run queries, conduct log analysis (e.g. Splunk), use of code-retention tool (SVN, or GIT) and project management tool (Rally), etc. highly desired.
