The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) is seeking to fill a Senior Project Manager position. The ideal candidate will responsible for construction project management and oversight of complex capital improvement projects primarily associated with transportation of goods and infrastructure improvement.
The position requires registration as a Professional Engineer and/or significant experience in large-scale capital improvement project management requiring complex civil and traffic engineering. Incumbents are responsible for managing staff and consultants assigned to infra structure capital improvement planning, design, environmental clearance, right-of-way acquisition and construction management functions, and exercises direct supervision over professional, technical and administrative staff. This position reports to the Chief Engineer / Director of Capital Projects.
The Senior Project Manager duties include, but are not limited to:
Provides technical oversight of all aspects of the project including oversight of environmental clearance, design, construction management, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation and railroad coordination of capital improvement projects.
Performs professional construction project management duties by coordinating construction project components with various consultants.
Directs and participates in the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, designs and project cost estimates for multiple capital improvement projects.
Plans, organizes, manages, integrates and evaluates the work of assigned capital improvement project management staff and consultants.
Participates in the contractor/consultant selection processes; develops scopes of services and assists in forming evaluation criteria, proposal analysis and bid review.
Ensures the maintenance of detailed records of construction project management activities and results.
Ensures project safety plans are enforced through monitoring reporting procedures and spot checks in the field.
Coordinates right-of-way acquisitions and utility relocations to ensure the SGVCOG has the rights needed for projects.
Manages the construction of the project through the construction management firm.
Interacts with various funding and member agencies including Caltrans and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Prepares drafts and reviews correspondence, prepares and maintains a wide variety of project management issues. May make presentations to Governing Board, or Committees.
The Senior Project Manager will possess a combination of experience and education, including equivalent to:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field, and at least eight years of progressively responsible experience in transportation design and/or construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience in civil design/construction, railroad construction and traffic signalization is particularly relevant.

-Flex-Plan CalPERS Health Insurance:$700/month for employee only and $1,300/month for E+1 and family.
-CalPERS Retirement: 2% at 55 for Classic Members and 2% at 62 for New Members as defined by PEPRA.
