The St. Cloud State University Department of Mass Communications, an ACEJMC-accredited program with more than 300 majors, is looking for a colleague to teach required strategic communications and department core mass communication courses.
Teach courses in strategic communication and journalism, writing for mass media, principles of visual design in strategic and journalism contexts, and video/graphic design software and equipment.
For tenure consideration, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to: 1) teach and/or perform assignment effectively; 2) conduct scholarly achievement or research; 3) continue preparation and study in discipline; 4) contribute to student growth and development; and 5) provide service to the university and community. (IFO Article 22, Section B)
Ph.D. in mass communications or related field. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered. MFA in a field related to mass communications with a minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience in mass communications will be considered.
Knowledge of theories, principles and practice of strategic communications and journalism.
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge and experience with the use of big data in strategic communications.
Knowledge and experience with social media strategies.
Teaching experience in a higher education environment.
Experience with online teaching.
