The Development Associate assists the Development Department in all aspects of fundraising, communications, and public relations. The Development Associate works across the spectrum of development work including authoring and prospecting grant proposals and reports, assisting with program evaluation, managing LCHC’s donor database, and engaging and supporting donors to LCHC. The Development Associate interacts frequently with granting agencies, donors, and program and administrative staff at LCHC, interns, and volunteers.
The Development Associate will:
1. Assist in maintaining and growing LCHC’s private and government grant portfolio, including assisting the Grants Manager in authoring grant reports and proposals, prospecting for new grant opportunities, and assisting in program evaluation. 2. Manage and maintain the department calendar which includes, but is not limited to, grant deadlines, newsletter release dates, outreach communications. Issuing reminders as needed about upcoming deadlines and expectations. 3. Lead all gift processing and manage the donor database, reconciling records with accounting department, generating and mailing acknowledgment letters and receipts, and preparing donation reports. 4. Create, update, and maintain donor records in the donor database. 5. Draft and send correspondence, including authoring newsletter stories, donor communications, and support of staff communications as needed 6. Provide administrative and project management support for mailed and emailed fundraising and cultivation efforts throughout the year (i.e. newsletter, annual appeal, annual report, etc.). 7. Assist in creating and supporting strategies to develop new donors, cultivate major donor relationships and maintain strong relationships with LCHC partners and supporters 8. Responsible for assisting with tours, site visits, and other events such as the annual Lawndale 5K race and staff events.

Excellent writing and public speaking skills required. 4. Strong clerical or administrative skills acquired either through experience or academic training. 5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural, faith-based organization. 6. Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care professionals and constituents. 7. Quantitative skills required to work with spreadsheets and produce reports.
