The Health & Technology Innovation Center at Christiana Care is looking for an Associate Software Development Engineer to join their award winning team of developers, designers, and analysts. The Innovation Center explores new ideas and advanced technological solutions to address today's healthcare challenges and tomorrow's opportunities. The Associate Software Development Engineer is responsible for contributing to the design, development and operation of efficient, value-focused, complex clinical and business solutions that support organizational objectives and priorities. This role includes applying strong programming fundamentals while engineering solutions that use emerging technologies and programming languages to address Innovation Center initiatives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Work as part of a team to design, build, and support custom software solutions for web and mobile.
Maintain a strong focus on meeting deadlines, budgets, scope, and code quality.
Actively participate as a member of a scrum team in work planning and execution.
Collaborate with the Solutions Architect to plan new Innovation Center solutions, making recommendations for applying new technologies and approaches.
Introduce new and innovative ways to engineer software solutions to the team of engineers.
Produce scalable, robust, high-quality code.
Demonstrate and provide effective liaison/consulting support with internal and external customers & partners and confer with them to understand business problems with a goal to define and implement value added solutions.
Evaluate existing systems to improve their effectiveness and efficiency while reducing operational costs.
Develop and maintain quality project, system, and operational documentation using the established project management methodology and departmental templates.
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and scripts.
Plan, schedule, and complete all assigned tasks with associated documentation.
Willingness to support Innovation Center initiatives by providing help in areas outside of personal expertise.
Represent the Innovation Center during tours, presentations, and other events outside of traditional business hours.
Education and Experience Requirements Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering related field preferred
Experience in analysis, design, and development of client/server and/or web-based applications
Expertise and experience in applying fundamental object oriented programming principles in projects
Flexibility to quickly learn and program in alternative languages and technologies as needed by project
Expertise with designing and implementing relational data models using SQL Server and Transact-SQL
Expertise and experience in troubleshooting and debugging applications
Familiarity with Visual Studio and development in C#
Ideal, but not Required
Experience in Microsoft Visual Studio using ASP.NET and C#
Experience in Git source control and repository management
Experience with mobile development, especially with Xamarin, Xamarin.Forms, Android SDK, and/or iOS SDK
Experience using Microsoft Internet Information Server
Experience with Device Testing - Application, Network, Performance
Experience with Microsoft Team System/Team Foundation Server (TFS)
Experience with MVC design pattern
Experience with reporting software, preferably SQL Server Reporting Services
Experience with RESTful web services, SOAP web services, and WCF development

Knowledge of webserver software such as Internet Explorer and Microsoft Internet Information Server.
Knowledge of structured programming and design concepts.
Experience with distributed version control systems.
Knowledge and experience with web technologies and web-based application development.
Strong understanding of object-oriented (OOP) development principles and design patterns/practices.
Experience with test-driven development or behavior-driven development and test-automation systems.
Ability to speak clearly and compellingly in front of large groups.
