IT Risk Assurance Senior Consultant The opportunity
The rapid evolution of technology and the risks related to this now regularly make headline news. The potential impact from threats ranging from external attacks to internal rogue trading makes the need for IT assurance an item of Board level concern. As an IT Risk Assurance Senior Consultant you'll be helping our clients gain the comfort they and their regulators require. That will mean using your technical knowledge of IT risks and controls and your client facing experience to work with our Managers and Senior Managers to provide clients with the assurance or advice they need. Working with some of the world's most prestigious Financial Service (FS) organisations you will be an integral part of our IT Risk Assurance (ITRA) team.
With our support, you'll have the opportunity to work on a range of IT Assurance projects, including IT External Audit Support, IT Internal Audit, IT components of Regulatory Reviews (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley 404 Basel III, etc.,) and Service Organisation Controls Reporting within FS. There is also the potential to work on Advisory engagements supporting clients in designing or assessing effectiveness of their IT risk and IT control mechanisms.
We're currently growing our IT Risk Assurance team to help meet increasing market demand, reflected in several years of double digit growth. Our projects typically involve managing multiple stakeholders and require you to give the best advice to our clients using your knowledge and experience to provide the best outcomes.
Your Key Responsibilities As an IT Assurance Senior Consultant in our UK Managed IT Risk Assurance service team you will be working with global EY teams to deliver high quality work to our clients, which will primarily be from the financial sector. You will have responsibility for;
Assist with audit planning, creating test procedures (where required) and testing IT controls
Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
Assist with the mobilisation of audit teams
Support engagement management activities such as finance tracking, billing, resource management
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel, whilst building strong internal relationships within Advisory and across other services
Support bids and proposals for new projects and client opportunities
Assist in preparing reports and outputs that will be delivered to clients and other parties
Develop junior members of the IT Risk Assurance team in audits, through effective coaching and mentoring
Contribute to people initiatives including training, buddying with new joiners etc.
Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills
Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
Contributing to the development of the IT Risk Assurance team by sharing knowledge, leading by example and helping team members to develop.

To qualify for the role you must have
A strong academic background to degree level or equivalent experience in a number of the following areas:
IT external audit support
IT internal audit
Third party reporting, e.g. SOC1, AAF 01/06, SOC2
Experience of the IT elements of regulatory reviews (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley 404, Basel III, etc.,)
IT project governance and management
Experience working for a professional services consultancy firm or blue chip industry firm in IT external audit, IT internal audit, or IT risk management is highly preferred
Ideally, you'll also have
Recognised (or working towards) professional qualification such as CISA, CISM, CISSP
Solid IT and/or technology background
Experience and understanding of Financial Services
Creative, independent with good problem solving skills
Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication and writing skills
