Dental Assistants in the School of Dentistry provides chair side assistance to undergraduate students, residents, dental therapy and dental hygiene students and faculty as directed. Prepare and maintain instruments for assigned operatories. Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly maintenance of cubicles and radiographic areas as assigned. Additional duties include stocking and maintaining supplies. Expose digital radiographs. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment. Direct patient care and providing full mouth and Panoramic x-rays as directed. Instructing students on proper x-ray techniques.

Hourly Salary Range: $18.86 to $24.44 USD/hour

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (must be documented)
Graduate from an accredited dental assisting course and currently *DANB certified and licensed as a Minnesota Dental Assistant.
Current CPR Certification.
Chairside experience in General Dentistry and knowledge of dental procedures.
Must be able to multi task and adapt to changing work environment and work responsibilities.
Demonstrated/documented knowledge of digital radiography and its use.
Successful experience providing dental care to a diverse patient base.
*If not DANB certified as a Dental Assistant as noted above, a trainee program is available. Trainees must have completed their certification as a Dental Assistant within 3 months of hire. Must have all other required qualifications to be hired as a trainee.
Experience as a Dental Assistant working in a dental office or clinic.
Experience in an academic institution or in training or teaching others such as Dental Assistant externs/interns, DDS, DH and DT students.
Experience in a busy Dental Clinic or practice atmosphere with multiple providers.
Ability to work with a variety of faculty, staff, residents and students and promote a respectful work place.
Experience with Digital Imaging.
Broad experience with knowledge of procedures and in all areas of Dentistry.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work well in a team setting.
