The National Runaway Safeline (NRS) has an immediate full-time opening for a crisis services supervisor position. NRS is 48 years old, private not-for-profit that operates as the federally designated 24/7 national hotline for runaway and homeless youth. This position provides trauma sensitive solution focused crisis intervention, information and referral and other related services to runaway and at-risk youth and their families via the crisis hotline and across digital communication platforms (live chat, email and forum postings). NRS’ crisis services center utilizes state of the art phone systems and client information documentation and referral software. Referral information is pulled from our searchable nationwide database of over 6300 providers. All crisis staff undergo a minimum of 48 hours of intensive crisis intervention training prior to handling crisis contacts.
The schedule for this position is 4pm to midnight Thursday-Monday. The salary for this position is budgeted in the lower $30,000s. Benefits are competitive.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-directed professional that enjoys working with a diverse group of people and is sensitive and responsive to cultural differences. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field and a minimum of one year crisis intervention or applicable work experience and/or internship or work study placement in a social service environment.
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who is able to conduct multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Strong communications skills both written and verbal. Must be able to demonstrate empathy, self-regulation, and good social skills and be able to abide by the tenants of NRS’ philosophy (confidential, nonjudgmental, nondirective, non-sectarian, honest and empowering). Must be adaptable, good at problem solving and able to work as a team player. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and navigating various software platforms. Spanish language is a plus.
