Chapin Hall is seeking a full-time, highly motivated individual for the position of Business Systems Analyst, reporting to the Director of Financial Operations. This role will ensure that Chapin Hall leverages, develops, and maintains the financial and project management business systems including Costpoint, Deltek Time & Expense (T&E), and Cognos reporting. The successful applicant’s duties will include identifying and implementing functional/technological solutions to improve business processes, extending system functionality and meeting internal and external reporting requirements.
The primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:
Act as the business systems’ subject matter expert on Costpoint, Deltek T&E and supporting modules/systems/tools.
Work as a member of the Financial Operations’ team ensuring the Chapin Hall business system is current, functioning, and reflects accurate information.
Understand the underlying database and the relationship between various datasets in order to assist with configuration design, SQL queries, update accounting and project structural elements, issue analysis and resolution, report dashboard configuration, and report writing.
Support existing Cognos reports and dashboards and create new reports as required by the business. Meet with report requestors to discuss their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
Initial project set up at award of contract stage, including establishing and communicating clear and efficient process, entering budget data and making necessary adjustments, and setting up billing for projects.
Establish and implement efficient business processes related to Chapin Hall’s renewable contracts with jurisdictions.
Collaborate with pre- and post-award Research Administration staff and Counsel-Contracts and Compliance to ensure seamless integration of project data and contracts across the life of a project.
User set up and support including entering new users, adjusting settings for current users, and managing termination of users.
Provide friendly, timely and succinct service/support to internal end users including training and support on core functionality, creating (where needed) and updating of manuals, monitoring helpdesk tickets, and documenting process and procedures.
Monitor time-keeping system and support the timely submission of timesheets including reviewing time entry data for errors and making corrections as necessary, processing timesheets in Deltek T&E, and transmitting files to Costpoint.
Prepare and maintain documentation, including requirements, specifications, process flow, and procedures.
Collaborate with management, administration, and researchers in administering the business systems.
Provide expertise and assistance ensuring all processes meet audit and security requirements.
Troubleshoot performance issues; lead the evaluation, escalation, and resolution of issues with the business systems vendor.
Act as a continuous improvement catalyst for Chapin Hall’s business systems and processes, investigating and testing new features and upgrades, recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical field; relevant Costpoint experience will be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
Experience & Other Qualifications
5+ years relevant experience supporting business systems applications to include a minimum of 3+ years’ experience with Costpoint/Deltek T&E, and Cognos.
Experience with Costpoint, Deltek T&E, and Cognos reporting systems and proven ability to apply this knowledge while supporting business needs.
Experience designing configuration, mapping data and supporting integrated ERP solutions.
Experience with all aspects of technical support for Costpoint and Deltek T&E including system upgrades, planning, design, and audit controls, as well as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
Demonstrated ability to understand complex business requirements and relational databases; design solutions within existing systems and support implementation.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems, analyze facts, draw conclusions, suggest solutions, and work autonomously, or with others ensuring successful resolution.
Ability to plan and manage multiple, concurrent tasks, projects, and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed written instructions and documentation.
Strong sense of teamwork and customer service orientation.

Advanced skills with the Microsoft Office Suite required including strong Excel skills.
