The Wesleyan IT (ITS) department is agile, energetic, creative, highly collaborative, provides strong support for professional development, and fosters creativity and intellectual contributions by staff.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Technology Support Services and working in close collaboration with other ITS units, the Desktop Systems Engineer will be responsible for architecting and executing the institution’s software packaging and deployment including virtual application delivery.
This is a tier-3 support position and requires high-level technical skills and significant relevant work experience with both Windows and Mac application deployment platforms as well as application and desktop virtualization with Citrix Systems.
The Software Deployment Engineer:
is responsible for application packaging and deployment of curricular software to Mac and Windows computers in ITS-managed classrooms and labs, and Mac and Windows computers for faculty and staff.
manages virtualized desktop systems and applications.
is responsible for maintaining operating system and application updates and patches on deployed computers.
selects and maintains deployment tools as well as desktop and application virtualization systems.
manages multiple projects including managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant work-experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
In-depth knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and other application deployment tools (Parallels for Mac, Jamf), management and deployment for both Macintosh and Windows environments.
Significant experience implementing and supporting Citrix StoreFront, XenDesktop, and XenApp.
Demonstrated understanding of common networking and storage systems (e.g. Active Directory, Network Attached Storage, Unicast and Multicast protocols, file systems, etc.). Group Policy, Microsoft InTune, Azure ActiveDirectory
Demonstrated project management experience.

At least five years of relevant experience strongly preferred.
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate or Expert and/or Apple Certified Support Professional or equivalent.
Experience in a similar position within Higher Education.
