This position serves as head of the Athletics Internet Communications team and works with Director of Digital Media to identify departmental priorities and develop custom applications/utilities to streamline processes and workflows. Responsibilities include oversight and maintenance of UTSports.com and departmental websites, as well as development and maintenance of custom software applications.
Oversees day-to-day operations of the Internet Communications department, including managing Assistant Director(s) and students, determining project priorities, providing support to Athletics staff, and working with Director of Digital Media on budgetary needs.
Serves as lead developer. Manages both front-end and back-end development for custom applications and websites, including server setup, data integrations (database, API, etc.), user interface development, and deployment. Collaborates with Assistant Director(s) and Director of Digital Media to optimize user experience and ensure projects are in line with industry best practices.
Consults with internal and external clients on requirements and project management of third-party technology solutions (e.g. Audience View, SIDEARM). Develops and maintains custom software solutions in support of the Tennessee Fund and Ticket Office for online ticketing, donations and customer relationship management.
Tracks and supports routine, seasonal updates of UTSports.com, AllVols.com, and ThorntonCenter.net as well as custom projects such as CLU (Client Lookup Utility), Student Rewards, and the Tennessee History & Records utility.
TRAINING & SUPPORT
Trains and supports Athletics Department staff on the use of UTSports.com, AllVols.com and other custom sites/apps. Trains student interns and volunteers.
