The Technology, Intellectual Property & Contracts Group in Legal-Americas is seeking a paralegal to work with the team that manages technology law and intellectual property matters, with a particular emphasis on trademark prosecution. The paralegal will work with both in-house and external counsel, the various areas within Legal and other contacts throughout the firm's global businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS Principal Responsibilities
Assist in-house counsel in the development of global trademark and domain name management program
Oversee maintenance and enforcement of global trademark management program
Manage trademark filings and renewals in coordination with outside intellectual property (IP) counsel and the relevant business managers
Facilitate and coordinate the tracking and resolution of IP-related matters such as (i) trademark clearance for new products or businesses, (ii) issuance and management of cease and desist notices relating to unauthorized use of the firm's IP, (iii) collaborate with internal clients regarding trademarks and domain names and (iv) responding to internal inquiries concerning use of copyrighted materials
Lead and assist with due diligence efforts, including review of trademark and copyright documents, assignments, and chains of titles
Participate in other technology law and intellectual property matters, as may come within the group's areas of responsibility
Preference is for a paralegal with at least 3 years of experience in IP-related matters, with some experience in a corporate legal department IP practice area. However, we will consider outstanding law firm candidates or paralegal students without such in-house experience.
Strong understanding of, or strong capacity to understand, U.S. Trademark rules, processes and procedures and ability to conduct legal research within the TMEP and CFR
