Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking Project Manager for The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). This position is under the guidance of the Director, Architectural Project Management & Design Services, or Director, Engineering Project Management and Design Services, the Project Manager independently manages small to medium size renovation projects from inception to final completion. The Project Manager prepares design drawings and coordinates with Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical designers to create complete bid packages on smaller projects.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Designs, prepares and publishes complete bidding documents with estimates for small to medium scale alteration and renovation construction projects, both competitively bid and in-house construction.
Manages small to medium size construction projects, coordinating design consultants, construction contractors, and interfacing among various user groups, maintenance staff, and other RU departments.
Coordinates and reviews architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire-protection and electrical designs for conformance with the University's design standards, reviews shop drawings during construction.
Develops and monitors project schedule and budget.
Prepares periodic status updates and reports, and monitors progress against established schedule.
Reviews and evaluates design solutions and recommendations presented by design consultants.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Minimum of five years of design/construction project management experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to draw/draft manually as well as on latest computer design programs
Have a good understanding of management of small to medium size construction projects
Experience working independently with clients to develop creative design solutions and be able to implement the plan
Strongly familiar with all aspects of the design process, be able to direct the work of other team members, evaluate options, and make sound decision
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Candidate working towards obtaining a professional licensure in New Jersey.
