Your Impact: We are seeking a highly dynamic, detail-oriented, results-driven Associate to join our US Strategic Client Services team. In this capacity, you will manage a pipeline of client and fund events for GSAM. You will help centrally coordinate the effort to onboard or restructure Institutional client mandates within GSAM, and will organize and lead new launches and restructures across GSAM's fund offering (mutual funds and alternative investment funds). The Strategic Client Services team works closely with internal partners across the Investment Management Division and Federation areas to ensure successful execution, robust controls, and an exceptional client experience for every fund launch and client onboarding. Strategic Client Services (SCS) works with GSAM Portfolio Management, Distribution and other internal business teams to manage our client onboarding and fund launch process. SCS seeks to strengthen our client franchise by providing world class client service and execution in a controlled and scalable manner.
Our SCS Client Account Specialist team is responsible for managing the on-boarding of new separate accounts for institutional clients and leading the launch of new GSAM funds. In addition, the team supports other life-cycle activities including restructures and terminations of existing client mandates and similar changes across the broad suite of GSAM funds (fund mergers, liquidations, restructures).
The SCS team serves in a client-facing capacity, partnering with Distribution and Portfolio Management to clearly articulate a project plan directly to the client as well as providing regular updates over the course of the implementation. At the same time, internally the SCS team is charged with defining and managing accountabilities across the entire GSAM and Federation organization involved in client and fund events, including Controllers, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS How You Will Fulfill Your Potential: Responsibilities:
Manage a pipeline of client and fund events
Understand and manage every facet these events, working closely with partners from Portfolio Management, Distribution, Operations and other business teams throughout the process.
Coordinate, organize and lead all internal GSAM discussions and serve as a point of escalation for issues throughout the event.
Partner with Distribution to manage client expectations and ensure exceptional client experience.
Develop target delivery date and key milestones based on a deep understanding of fund and client requirements, service level agreements within GSAM and with business support partners.
Manage the negotiations, vetting and tracking of all contractual obligations, including the Investment Management Agreement, Prospectus, Investment Guidelines, Non-Investment Commitments (e.g., operational / technology setup, reporting requirements) with key functional areas.
Coordinate with Operations on operational implementation, including account and counterparty set up.
Ensure that all functional areas are kept informed of the status of all events and any sensitive issues or requests are escalated to and resolved with GSAM Management.
Coordinate and obtain the requisite sign-offs from senior management in all impacted functions; ensure that all prerequisite tasks are complete prior to commencement of trading.
Contribute to the broader SCS effort to enhance client experience and controls and identify, streamline and implement process and governance improvements.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications
3 - 5 years of relevant experience
Extremely diligent, organized and results-focused
Exceptional judgment with an ability to grasp concepts quickly and problem solve through an analytical mindset
Interest in GSAM investment strategies and products
Strong project management skills, including ability to organize, track and drive resolution to multiple threads of activity
Strong communication skills with an ability to gain trust and confidence from clients and internal functional areas
Commitment to commercial focus: striving to deliver on and exceed client and GSAM stakeholder expectations while balancing the role's emphasis on operational soundness and risk mitigation
Familiarity and comfort with Legal contracts and Legal and Compliance issues, Regulatory frameworks and regimes impacting Asset Managers
Working knowledge of fund structures and products (e.g. mutual funds and alternative investment funds) and regulatory environments
Prior experience navigating the Investment Management Division
