The QA Medical Lab Specialist supports the BCH Therapeutic Apheresis clinical program in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements for Apheresis specialty practice including but not limited to HPC collections.
This QA Medical Lab Specialist will be responsible for:
Supporting departmental QAPI Program with statistical data generation, analysis and project identification for process improvement. Develops indicators of service quality and monitors performance of the labs against these indicators.
Developing and implementing tools to objectively assess service quality. Develops and conducts departmental and interdepartmental surveys to determine satisfaction, areas of improvement and other performance issues. Designs programs to improve quality and respond to other findings of this process. Presents results to various departmental and hospital committees.
Serving as project manager for designated departmental quality improvement projects, programs and initiatives. Monitors and communicates project status, identifies and resolves problems/issues and provides leadership for project teams/work groups in order to meet established goals, specifications and schedules. Plans and oversees provision of related training and conducts project evaluation and follow‑up. Selects, trains and supervises work of temporary support personnel as needed.
Managing departmental strategies for improved customer relations. Investigates and responds to complaints and incidents.
Assessing and develop programs to improve staff satisfaction. Designs and monitors programs to improve interactions between the labs and other internal customers, including clinicians.
Reviewing potential adverse event investigation and responses. Leads root cause analysis sessions in collaboration with laboratory managers and supervisors.
Interpreting and implementing regulatory changes. Coordinates departmental regulatory issues including CLIA reporting, preparation for Joint Commission, CMS and other inspections. Keeps abreast of regulatory requirements and assures that all standards are up to date and distributed to all labs.
Performing a variety of special projects and additional work as needed/assigned.
Contributing to the teamwork within and between departments and organizations.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree and additional training in the practice of total quality management.
At least 3-5 years' experience in quality improvement, preferably in a laboratory discipline.
Knowledge of FACT, FDA, AABB and JC regulations is strongly preferred.
Lean/Six Sigma training preferred.
