Annual Salary Range: starts at $43,180.80
Duties/Responsibilities: The Housing Maintenance Coordinator works to support the maintenance of all housing facilities on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus, including coordinating and performing ongoing maintenance work. This position requires an individual to work independently, solving complex problems through innovative solutions. Duties include: responding to and resolving resident concerns, after-hours emergency response, and supervision of maintenance student staff. The Housing Maintenance Coordinator serves a wide variety of individuals and must be open to working with those from diverse backgrounds.
Housing Maintenance (40%): • Respond to concerns from students, parents, & guests regarding maintenance issues. • Ensure that all maintenance repair requests are responded to efficiently. • Respond to after-hours calls, which may include returning to campus to respond in person. • Work collaboratively with Facilities Management trades staff to ensure various maintenance work is completed. • Work collaboratively with Custodial Supervisors to ensure routine cleaning is performed in the residential facilities. • Perform regular building walk-throughs to identify any concerns that have not been presented through other reporting channels.
Planning & Projects (10%): • Provide support for all major and minor housing renovation & building projects. • Work collaboratively with Facilities Management project managers on major projects and trades staff on minor projects. • Develop & execute a housing preventative maintenance program. • Plan, procure, and install all furnishings & appliances for housing facilities.
Supervision (15%): • Selection, supervision, training, and evaluation of student housing maintenance staff. • Coordinates safety training program for student staff.
Administrative Responsibilities (20%): • Meet with Assistant Director for Housing Maintenance regularly. • Attend weekly staff meetings, including: maintenance & central staff. • Procure & maintain inventory of equipment, materials, parts, and supplies. • Assists with the coordination of the Hazardous Material program. • Assist in the implementation of openings and closing throughout the year. • Maintain files and prepare required reports. • Maintain an inviting office space. • Represent the Housing Maintenance unit in the absence of the Assistant Director
Departmental Responsibilities (10%): • Coordinate & participate in department-wide committees and functions • Assist with move-in and move-out processes. • Assist in the selection of full-time positions in Housing & Residence Life. • Assist Housing & Residence Life in other areas as assigned.
Divisional Responsibilities (5%): • Represent Housing & Residence Life on University work groups, task forces, and committees. • Partner with other student life staff to deliver programs and services to residential students.
Required Qualifications: • BA/BS Degree and 4 years of experience in maintenance or facilities management, preferably in college/ university housing, or • A combination of related education & work experience equal to 8 years.
