The Enterprise Applications Services (EAS) division within Information and Technology Services (ITS) has an immediate opening for one (1) ERP Business Systems Analyst Intermediate (BSA) in the Financials & Physical Resources System (FIN) product line. As a member of a high performing team, the BSA will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with other BSAs and cross-functional teams to support the technology needs of the Financials & Physical Resources System community. ITS Job Duties & Purpose:
Provides creativity for the development of business process and systems solutions. Work assignments includes assignments with multiple content areas (business domains), multiple platforms, multiple integrations, and cross-functional assignments. Contributes to service enhancement projects, including taking projects from request through implementation and release. Performs project management, including resource and time estimates. Builds customer relationships through active listening and frequent communication with customers and by resolving incidents and requests, following up with customers on incidents escalated to other support groups. Collaborates with stakeholders, customers, data stewards, users, team members and other technical staff to design, implement, and continuously improve services and deliverables to meet business needs. May require on-call availability and may require working during non-business hours and on weekends.
Utilize knowledge of commonly used IT concepts, practices and procedures to support financial business processes with special emphasis on General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Accounts Payable and Procurement. Demonstrate self-sufficiency on primary systems of use. Understand integration and relational database concepts.
Understand and contribute to the design, implementation and security for U-M systems. Apply knowledge of sensitive data policies to assigned work.
Utilize IT methodology standards in a coherent, consistent, accountable and repeatable manner in accordance with best practices established by the organization. Identify appropriate templates, tasks and forms within ITS methodologies/standards for assigned work.
Interact with stakeholders, customers and/or users to collect and document requirements for the system under development, implementation or upgrade. Skills include interviewing, documentation, analyzing requirements to identify ambiguities and conflicts and working with stakeholders to resolve these issues. Design includes compliance and regulatory issues. Gather, document and analyze requirements using standards for system development methodologies in use. Work with customers and users to design valid and desirable solutions.
Develop and execute test plans to ensure that a product or system meets design specifications, security and other requirements.
Use data to inspect, collect, interpret and present information with the goal of highlighting useful results, suggesting conclusions and supporting decision making. Use data to better understand scope and impact for requirements gathering and testing. Collect data from source and external system(s). Interpret data and find meaning to support proposals, development of system changes and/or business solutions. Analyze data and present alternatives/suggest conclusions. Understand who the U-M Data Stewards are and when to engage them for system designs. Address data requests to produce results used in analyzing business situations or providing reports to customers.
Utilize business process mapping (BPM) to define what a business entity does, who is responsible, to what standard a process should be completed and how the success of a business process can be determined. Use BPM software to document complex business processes once they are defined. Work with clients to develop workflow models.
Review existing business practices to identify and recommend improved processes. Apply impact and risk analysis to processes being analyzed. Document as-is and to-be business processes. Apply practical process performance measures for projects. Contribute to setting organizational best practices for risk and impact analysis, processes.
Identify and analyze the customer’s needs and problems. Gather information and conduct research in order to implement the appropriate strategy. Use expert knowledge and provide advice to others looking to solve a problem or establish new or enhanced operations. Use expert knowledge to assist with product adoption for both existing and new functionality. Understand customer requirements and needs. Enable product adoption and business process transformation.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Two (2) years of related experience in a process area or systems support; to include systems analysis and design
Demonstrated skills in business systems analysis, design and system testing
Demonstrated skills in gathering, translating, prioritizing and documenting system requirements
Demonstrated skills in process modeling tools and techniques
Demonstrated skills in facilitating team meetings and collaborating with customers on the resolution of business process issues
Demonstrated ability to learn new software, understand technical information and communicate it to others using clear, concise and user-friendly language
Previous experience working with PeopleSoft Financials enterprise software or other ERP applications
Financial business reporting expertise
Strong understanding of financial business processes
Normal amount of sitting, average mobility to move around an office environment; able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. May require travel to various locations on and off campus. May require on-call availability and may require working during non-business hours and on weekends. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance is required. Responsible for protecting data and information from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration or unauthorized deletion; and, following applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of data, etc. as stated in a computer access agreement.
