Established in 1947, the College of Communication (COM) at Boston University is a large college departments specializing in Journalism, Film & Television, and Mass Communication, Advertising and Public Relations. COM's student population exceeds 2,000 annually, including undergraduates, graduate and PhD's. The College integrates a strong liberal arts core with a heavy focus on preparing students for careers as communication professionals. Our faculty is a blend of traditional academics and widely experienced professionals. Located in the
LGO will be a professional fundraiser with a successful track record of engagement with prospects and six-figure solicitations, as well as preferred experience in board management.
A minimum of three years of direct fundraising experience with a proven track record of soliciting and closing gifts
Experience in a large and complex organization that requires navigating a matrix of intricate relationships of power, cross-reporting structures, and the need to manage both up and down
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships both internally and externally
Ability to think strategically, creatively and sometimes out of the box to benefit the College of Communication team and its prospect pipeline
Capable of meeting goals set by others, as well as setting goals for himself/herself with minimal oversight
Ability to think through, create and prioritize timelines, projects and visits
Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and think strategically Candidates must have a bachelors degree; a masters is preferred, and three to five years of fundraising experience. Additionally, advanced written communications, analytical skills.
